Welcome To Peterborough Art Society
Celebrating 90 Years
Thank you for visiting our site. This year Peterborough Art Society are celebrating their 90th anniversary. We were established by a group of local artist in 1929 lead by W V Garrard who was Art Master at the local Kings School. The society was to promote and encourage local artists to improve and exhibit their work.
We continue that same ethos today, in encouraging all ages and all experiences to join us in our love of art. We are a very diverse and active society and welcome all newcomers to our Society, whether you just have an interest in art, or you are an amateur or professional artist, you will be given a very warm welcome.
See below for information about our upcoming exhibitions. Including one in the middle of March at the Old Imperial Cinema in New England, Peterborough. See below for details.
Why not come along to one of our regular monthly evenings as a visitor. You can enjoy a cup of tea and a chat with like minded people. Check out our programme schedule which shows details of our upcoming monthly meetings/demonstrations and other events. Also take a look at the details about joining us.
Very Active February Evening
Our members turned up in their droves on February 4th. We held a still life/own project painting evening and almost ran out of table space due to the number of members turning up. The weather helped with think, as it was such a mild night for the time of year.
We also judged the Chairmans Challenge for 2018/19, the subject being 'Trees', whereby members had to bring along a painting with this subject having a tree or trees, or part of a tree, within the picture. There were a great number of entries. See the winner and runner up opposite.

Painting Days Out 2019
We often organise painting days out for members during the year. This year, 2019, we will be going back to some of our members favourite places, such as Thorpe Hall, Elton Village, Ferry Meadows and the City Centre. There are also some other exciting places being investigated. Keep checking back on our programme for details.
If you are interested in joining us there, but are not a member, then why not join Peterborough Art Society. You can contact us using our contact form, requesting a member application or you could come along to one of our meetings at St Marks Church Hall and join then. Please see our programme for details of when.

There were a lovely amount of very diverse pictures contain a tree or trees. Just about every medium you could think of were there. It was a difficult decision for a lot of people. But eventually all the members present had cast their vote and the results are:
